With the intention of reaching the United States regardless of the conditions that arise, Yeraldin Díaz, along with her six children and her husband, is seeking a second chance at an appointment with immigration authorities of the United States, in order to obtain humanitarian asylum to provide her family with better living conditions.

After giving an interview to El Sol de Hermosillo, while at the Vida Plena Corazón Contento shelter, she said that they had an appointment on January 14 with immigration from the United States, however, due to delays in Mexico, they were unable to arrive, and will have to wait for a second chance, which has become complicated.

During Donald Trump’s first day as president of the neighboring country to the north, the application of CBP One was temporarily suspended, even some scheduled appointments were canceled or rescheduled, leaving hundreds of migrants in uncertainty in the border area of Mexico.

In the case of Yeraldin Díaz, she has been in the Mexican Republic for months, after leaving Venezuela due to the poor conditions of the Nicolas Maduro government, which motivated her to travel to the United States for a better quality of life.

We returned from Nogales, and we came from Tuxtla where we made the appointment via the Internet, however, for different reasons with Mexican immigration, we did not arrive on time and the only thing they recommended was to re-process another appointment and that is why today we are here in this shelter in Hermosillo

Yeraldin Díaz accompanied by her two children, added that despite being in the Sonoran capital in a shelter where they receive food and a roof over their heads, they are still in the uncertainty of not getting the appointment with the immigration authorities.

At the same time, she continues to wait for the new United States government with Donald Trump, she added, although they are also analyzing the way to return to their country, but she considers it complicated due to the lack of economic resources and documents.

“For now we are going to wait a few more days to see if we get a response for a second meeting with U.S. immigration, we will see how we survive here,” he said.

Their goal is to request humanitarian asylum and be able to reunite with relatives who live in the United States, he shared, without entering illegally to avoid problems, since they only seek to work to offer their children better living conditions.
