After a woman reported to the authorities that a dog she frequently cared for had been found with multiple wounds on its body, apparently caused by a machete, the Animal Welfare Institute (IBA) has begun the corresponding investigations and care for the affected animal.

On the morning of Thursday, January 23, María del Rocío Pérez informed the authorities that a dog she calls ‘Gordita’ was seriously injured after receiving at least seven machete blows throughout its body, so she asked that the identity of those responsible be investigated in order to hold them accountable for the damage to this living being.

María de Rocío reported that although the affected dog is from the street, she usually feeds and cares for it in her store located outside the municipal market of Cuautlancingo, however, this morning when she arrived at her business she saw the bleeding wounds that ‘Gordita’ had.

For the above, IBA personnel, together with the municipal director of this department, María Esther Martínez, went to the building where with the help of veterinarians they began to treat ‘Gordita’s’ injuries.

In addition to that, it was reported that the municipal administration is already analyzing the videos from the security cameras in the area in order to provide evidence to the Animal Welfare Institute and that they, together with the complaining citizen, file a complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and that the person or persons responsible for the crime of animal cruelty be found.
