Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo Train
Under the instruction of the governor of Coahuila, Manolo Jiménez, Cepeda Boehringer underlined Coahuila’s commitment to work in a coordinated manner on this railway initiative.
During the meeting, which was attended by Néstor Núñez, General Director of Engagement of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), the importance of building exclusive tracks for passenger trains was highlighted, avoiding as far as possible the use of lines intended for freight transport.
The plan contemplates that this 306-kilometer stretch will connect Mexico City with Nuevo Laredo, passing through Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Saltillo and Ramos Arizpe.
Work begins in June
Construction will begin in June, after the public tender, and each stage of the project will be opened as the work progresses. This work represents a strategic investment to improve the mobility and infrastructure of the country, positively impacting Coahuila families.
The working table included the participation of key actors such as Óscar Pimentel González, Secretary of Government; Miguel Ángel Algara Acosta, Secretary of Infrastructure and Urban Development; and various mayors of municipalities through which the road will pass. During the meeting, it was agreed to hold monthly meetings to monitor progress and make necessary adjustments.
We are facing a historic project that will unite communities, promote economic development and provide new mobility options
For his part, Núñez highlighted that the Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo section of the train is projected to enter into operation at the end of 2027, thus consolidating a vision of modern connectivity for the country.
