Due to the storm, and the increase in wind and waves in the northwest, the National Coordination of Civil Protection reported that three ports in Baja California Sur, La Paz, Santa Rosalía and Loreto, will remain closed until January 25.
In a statement, the agency indicated that the Navy warned of the weather conditions and determined the closure of ports to small vessels in BCS, as well as the ports of Rosarito, Isla de Cedros and San Felipe, in the neighboring state of Baja California.
In these regions, navigation of small vessels was prohibited, which includes all those with sports and tourist activities.
This measure also applied to the Sonoran ports of Puerto Libertad, Bahía de Kino and Golfo de Santa Clara.
The federal agency warned the population to stay informed, especially to navigation and those who carry out tourist, port, sports, coastal and beach fishing activities.
The measure applies from January 20 to 25 and updates will be made based on the forecast and conditions that are recorded.
The warning for intense cold remains in place for Baja California Sur, where temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees have even been recorded in the northern regions, especially in the municipality of Mulegé.
