Blanca Merari, the municipal president of Puerto Morelos, announced that this tourist destination has successfully positioned itself among wholesalers and tour operators at the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2025, thanks to its natural beauty and diverse options for tourists seeking new experiences.
During Fitur, Merari highlighted the joint announcement by Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama and investors about the construction of a new hotel by the Excellence Group in Puerto Morelos. This prestigious hotel company has developments in Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico, promising economic growth for Puerto Morelos families.
“This is great news, as Puerto Morelos is gaining visibility in the hospitality industry with this new development by the Excellence Group, which will add rooms to the nearly 7,000 that currently exist. We aim to continue boosting our tourism industry while prioritizing sustainability,” said Merari.
Merari also mentioned meetings with representatives from agencies worldwide, seeking to expand their vacation offerings to include destinations like Puerto Morelos. In addition to sun and beach, Puerto Morelos offers adventure opportunities in the jungle, with the Route of the Cenotes and diving in the second-largest reef in the world.
Hotel investors praised Governor Lezama for fulfilling commitments to improve security in tourist areas and infrastructure, such as access to Playa Mujeres.
