As part of the investigation to dismantle an international vehicle theft operation, the Jalisco Attorney General’s Office seized 60 high-end vehicles that were smuggled into the country from the United States; 32 of them have a current theft report in that country.

The elements of the Investigative Police were able to establish that the gang that orchestrated this operation first rented the vehicles in the United States and then illegally introduced them into Mexico and took them to Jalisco, where the serial numbers were altered to avoid being detected as stolen cars.

Upon discovering that the vehicles could be found on a property of approximately one thousand square meters located in the El Roble neighborhood, in the municipality of Zapopan, the Public Ministry agent requested a search warrant that was granted by a Control Judge last weekend.

Upon inspecting the site, investigators found Ram TRX trucks, Ford Raptor, Toyota Tacoma, Jeep Rubicon, Grand Wagoneer, Dodge Ram 4.4, Porsche sports cars, Mustang Shelby and several classic vehicles.

In the operation led by the Specialized Unit for the Investigation of Vehicle Theft, there was support from the Mexican Army, the National Guard and the Zapopan Police, who carried out surveillance and security tasks on the property searched.

Despite the seizure of the vehicles, the authorities have not reported any arrests, so the investigation work continues.

Auto parts located

For its part, the Specialized Investigation Unit for Various Thefts of the State Attorney General’s Office seized a property in the municipality of Tonalá, where allegedly stolen auto parts were located.

When following up on a report of theft of auto parts, investigators arrived at a property on Loma Chapalita Street, in the Loma Dorada neighborhood of Tonalá, so they requested a search warrant.

When executing the judge’s order with the support of the municipal police, investigators located 87 car batteries, 4 rear taillights, 19 headlights, 19 fuse boxes, 10 vehicle computers, 11 modules, 31 engine covers, 20 air filters, two front grills, 85 packages of auto parts of various brands, five bayonets, three rearview mirrors and six injectors, all apparently of illicit origin.
