More than 950 thousand attendees are expected for the Mazatlan carnival festivities “La Perla”, which has the international tenor Plácido Domingo as a guest, so a large deployment of surveillance and security will be guaranteed for the coexistence of the attendees by instructions of the governor Rubén Rocha Moya, confirmed the secretary of government Feliciano Castro Melendrez.
He said that “the carnival party that will take place from February 24 to March 4 is of the people”, and he also made a recognition for the organizers of the Institute of Culture and Tourism of Mazatlan, who managed to bring an international artist, since it is a social investment, not an expense.
The official in a conference of the spokesperson of the secretary of government welcomed the international tenor who will perform at the Floral Games event on Friday, February 28 at the Teodoro Mariscal baseball stadium in the framework of the carnival festivities.
Castro Melendrez paraphrased the poet Pablo Neruda, who lived in the port (1892-1894) where he observed the waves of Mazatlán and how they hit the poverty of Navolato, so he invited more events to be held with the presence of great artists, because it is not only to feed the stomach, but to nourish the soul to reach more audiences in the colonies in Mazatlán, which is not only the golden zone.
In this framework, Mireya Sosa Osuna, Secretary of Tourism in Sinaloa, reported that during the days of celebration for this 2025, the carnival will exceed one million visitors and hoteliers have already reported 90 percent occupancy, with a spill of more than 700 million pesos.
