Businessmen from Mazatlán, Sinaloa met with the Senate Tourism Commission to request a series of measures to strengthen the security of this tourist destination, as well as to manage highway toll exemptions, in view of the carnival season and other gastronomic events.
Accompanied by senators and deputies of Morena, they stated that, despite the violence that prevails in the state, there are conditions for the International Carnival to take place from February 27 to March 4; even, the security of the event is guaranteed with the support of the National Guard and the Secretaries of Defense and the Navy.
“There will be security guarantees for the carnival, mainly, by the federal forces, and I emphasize this because there is already a security plan to offer for the carnival, which has already been made public by the same authorities,” he said.
“Mazatlán is not Culiacán, totally different things are happening, the conditions are totally different. A beautiful port like Mazatlán continues to function, cruise ships continue to arrive, we have a lot of American and Canadian tourism right now and the occupancy levels are very good,” stressed the vice president of Tourism of the Mazatlán Chamber of Commerce, Guillermo Romero Rodríguez.
The businessmen met with the Senate’s economic commission, chaired by the Morena member Emmanuel Reyes, who explained that a support program is being prepared for that port to counteract the perception of insecurity that there is derived from what happens in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
