During his arrest, three handguns, cartridges and a thousand fentanyl pills were seized, equivalent to 410,804 Mexican pesos.
Samuel “N” was known as “El Sierra” and moved through different areas of Sinaloa and Sonora, identified as one of the main generators of violence.
His arrest is a hard blow to criminal organizations by the justice institutions of the country.
It is not the first high-profile arrest in Durango
In Durango, the authorities have made various arrests of high-profile criminals in recent years and below are some of the most relevant:
December 2010: In the framework of operations against drug trafficking and the illegal possession of weapons, the Sedena arrested 369 alleged criminals in 23 municipalities of Durango. Gómez Palacio was the municipality with the highest number of arrests, followed by the state capital.
January 2023: In an operation in the El Cortijo residential area, in the city of Durango, Gerardo “N”, alias “El G1”, was captured, identified as a financial operator of the “Cabrera Sarabia” criminal group, linked to the Sinaloa Cartel. Along with him, Jesús “N” was arrested, and long weapons, magazines, cartridges and vehicles were seized. These actions reflect the authorities’ ongoing efforts to combat organized crime in the region and maintain security in the state of Durango.
March 2023: Sedena reported on various actions in the state of Durango, which included the eradication of marijuana and poppy plantations, as well as the seizure of drugs, weapons, vehicles and the arrest of individuals involved in criminal activities. Those arrested and what was seized were made available to the competent authorities.
December 2024: Iram Uranga Armendáriz was arrested and sentenced to 66 years in prison for the murder of three members of the Peña family, US citizens who were visiting Durango. The events occurred in the municipality of Santiago Papasquiaro, and the arrest took place a few days after the incident.
These actions, according to the authorities, reaffirm the commitment to maintain the peace and security of the inhabitants of Durango.
