Violence has not given a break in Oaxaca this week, as in addition to the armed attacks and clashes that occurred in recent days in the Papaloapan Basin, there is one that took place this Friday in the parking lot of Calzada Madero, in the historic center of the capital of Oaxaca.
The events occurred shortly after noon in the parking lot of a supermarket. The State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO) confirmed that the armed attack was a direct assault and left one fatal victim, who died from gunshot wounds.
After the murder, the attorney general’s office reported that it “deployed a multidisciplinary team,” headed by the Regional Vice-Attorney of Valles Centrales, to begin the investigations.
In addition, it detailed that it started the corresponding investigation file for the crime of homicide and assured that the first investigations allowed it to define lines of investigation and the identity of the alleged perpetrators.
“Since the FGEO became aware of the case, expert work has been carried out in different specialties of forensic sciences, as well as ministerial interviews and the collection of different clues which have allowed for the establishment of well-defined lines of investigation into the motive and identity of those possibly responsible,” it said in a statement.
These events occur precisely when the state is experiencing a climate of insecurity, after two consecutive armed attacks that left eight people dead in the Papaloapan Basin region, five of them police officers: 4 municipal and 1 federal.
One of these attacks resulted from an operation that sought to execute an arrest warrant against a subject who is the leader of a criminal group allegedly responsible for the forced disappearance of activist Sandra Domínguez, whose whereabouts have been unknown for 120 days.
