Robbery of pedestrians on public roads or in open spaces is one of the crimes that most affects the people of Vallarta, with an average of 3.5 robberies with and without violence per week being recorded in 2024 alone.
The above is based on statistics from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System dating from January 2015 to December 2024.
During the last decade, at least 1,453 robberies of pedestrians with or without violence have been reported in Puerto Vallarta, more than 145 per year, on average.
The year 2018 is the one in which the most have been reported with 226 cases, followed by 2015 with 189; 2017 with 181; 2019 with 143; 2023 with 136 and; recently 2024 with 119.
In the period mentioned and, specifically regarding robbery of pedestrians in public roads with violence, in 2015 78 crimes were reported and by 2016 it increased to 91. In 2017 it rose again to 110 and in 2018 it rose again to 146.
For 2019, the complaints dropped to 84, while for 2020 it dropped again to 53, but by 2021 it rose to 78. By 2022 they dropped to 42, but by 2023 it rose to 63 and, by 2024 it rose again to 68.
It should be noted that robbery of pedestrians in open spaces with violence had not been reported until 2021, when 3 cases were recorded, but by 2022 they rose to 96; In 2023 they rose to 136 and in 2024 to 119.
