A group of officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Puebla (SSC) were suspended from their posts for ignoring their obligation to safeguard peace in the capital, by witnessing and allowing a beating of civilians at the Mallet nightclub in Angelopolis.
After a video was released on Sunday, February 2, in which more than 10 security guards and workers from the Mallet nightclub could be seen beating citizens while they were still on the ground, the SSC reported on the progress they have made in the investigation.
MULTIMEDIOS Puebla had previously informed that during the attacks recorded on video, the presence of some elements with ballistic vests and military-style tactical equipment could be observed, who had not intervened to prevent this violent fight.
For the above, the Secretariat in question reported that the elements that appear in said videos are indeed active elements of its corporation, who apparently came because the staff of the club called and indicated that the occupants of a pickup truck were carrying weapons.
Upon arrival, the agents in charge only reported to their superiors that there were no signs of firearms in the area or by the owners of the indicated unit; these people were the ones who were beaten by the workers of the Mallet.
In addition, the officers did not report the acts of violence in the early hours of Sunday in the area, even though the victims assured that municipal police grabbed them so that the staff of the building could beat them.
Given this situation and due to the videos disseminated on social networks, the SSC became aware of everything that happened, so through the Internal Affairs unit, it proceeded to suspend from their positions the police officers involved in this event, although the number of elements in question has not been specified.
In addition, the petition was made to the affected parties to file a complaint with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) for both the aggressions caused by the employees, as well as for crimes of failure to fulfill a legal duty and for improper exercise of functions.
It is important to remember that the victims were four men, including one who is in serious health condition due to the beating they gave him while he was still on the ground; these people went to Mallet to complain about the theft of a cell phone and wallet, whose location was marked in the property of the Atlixcáyotl Territorial Reserve.
