Viva Aerobús announced that it will install a maintenance workshop for its fleet with an investment of 4 billion pesos and the creation of 2 thousand direct jobs and a thousand indirect jobs. The announcement was led by the governor, Mauricio Kuri, and company executives.
Juan Carlos Zuazua, general director of Viva Aerobús, announced the project that will serve to maintain its fleet, since commercial airplanes require maintenance every two years.
Viva Aerobus increases frequency and direct flight to Querétaro
The governor meets with company executives in Madrid; more flights are between Querétaro and Monterrey, and the direct trip is Querétaro-Tijuana
“The growing need to maintain and have the best technology for the service of airplanes gave us the best suitable place to have the specialized center to provide maintenance and fuselage of the airplanes,” he indicated.
The Viva Aerobús MRO will have an area of between 15 and 20 hectares within the AIQ, with eight production lines and four mega hangars, which will have the capacity to maintain 160 Airbus A320 aircraft per year. In the medium term, they plan to offer other airlines in North America and Central America to do their maintenance at this center.
“We started construction in practically two months, with the support of great allies, in the construction part and we hope to be finishing at the end of 2026, to be doing the first service of the aircraft in 2027,” he said.
He highlighted that they chose Querétaro because of the strategic location and the qualified talent with the Aeronautical University of Querétaro (UNAQ).
He mentioned that the company has a fleet of 90 Airbus A320 and Airbus A321 aircraft, and they already have an order for 120 more aircraft to arrive in the next 12 years.
He pointed out that the company has been operating in Querétaro since 2008, and they are already the main airline that transports passengers from the state. He mentioned that last year they transported 700 thousand people.
He asserted that they seek to offer users a space in which they do not need to go to Mexico City to make their connecting flights.
“Today we have eight direct flights from the City of Querétaro, we connect the city of Monterrey, the city of Mérida, Los Cabos, San Antonio on direct flights, and very soon we will begin to operate to the city of Dallas Texas from here in Querétaro,” he asserted.

Airlines that register the most users are Volaris, Viva Aerobús, Aeroméxico and American Airlines
In this regard, the governor, Mauricio Kuri highlighted the arrival of this investment for the hiring of specialized talent that the company will do, and highlighted the generation of formal employment in the state.
“A person who works in a formal and established company has everything to get ahead, has access to housing, has access to health and has access to a decent salary and more so in the salaries that Viva Aerobús is proposing,” he said.
The Secretary of Sustainable Development, Marco del Prete, indicated that Viva Aerobús is one of the main airlines that operates in the state, since in just the last two years they have tripled the number of passengers who have traveled from Querétaro.
“Today the Querétaro Airport becomes a reference not only in connectivity but also in competitiveness,” he said.
