Tourist Drowns Near Coco Limited Hotel in Tulum

A tourist of Asian origin tragically drowned on a beach in Tulum, near the Coco Limited hotel. Despite efforts to revive him, emergency services confirmed his death on the spot.

The incident occurred at kilometer 6 on the highway in Tulum’s hotel zone. Witnesses reported that the man, identified as 32-year-old Wang Wei, entered the sea shortly after consuming food. Wang Wei, who was staying at a hotel in Puerto Morelos, had traveled to Tulum to enjoy the day at the beach.

The emergency was reported to 911, prompting the deployment of paramedics from the Red Cross and the Health and Life team. Upon arrival, rescuers found that Wang Wei had already been pulled from the water and began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead minutes later.

In a separate incident, four Argentine tourists and one Mexican were injured when they were struck by the blades of a boat while attempting to board the catamaran “Capitano 1” near the Columbia reef, off the island of Cozumel. The injured were disembarked at a location known as “stone dock,” near the Secrets Aura Cozumel hotel.

Officials from the forensic medical service of the Attorney General of Quintana Roo arrived at the scene to address the situation. The boat was secured and cordoned off with yellow tape while investigations are conducted to determine responsibilities.

Three of the injured were transferred in “green code,” indicating that they received medical attention without their condition posing a serious risk. The other two tourists were also treated for minor injuries. Authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the cause of the accident and to establish additional security measures to prevent future incidents.
