Traffic Police announces new operation in Lázaro Cárdenas to speed up traffic; this is how it will work

In order to find the best alternative to reduce vehicle traffic during rush hour on Lázaro Cárdenas Avenue, the Traffic Police announced a new operation, which will begin next Monday, February 10.

The operation will be installed from the Glorieta del Álamo and the Arcos del Milenio. With this strategy, all those incorporations from the side lanes to the central lanes will be closed to traffic, leading to only those cars that travel from the Glorieta del Álamo circulating on the central lane.

Those people who enter Lázaro Cárdenas by the side lanes will continue on these lanes until they pass the Arcos del Milenio, since they will not be able to enter the central lanes.

However, the exits will continue open, so those people who circulate on the central lanes will be able to go to the side lanes.

To this end, the Traffic Police stated that they are working together with the Metropolitan Agency for Infrastructure for Mobility (AMIM) to ensure, first of all, that all traffic lights are synchronized and that they allow vehicle traffic to flow, in addition to the support that the Traffic Police will provide at key intersections.

For these actions, the Traffic Police will have 45 officers per shift.

“The closures will be carried out at the times identified with the highest demand: in the morning from 6:00 to 9:00 hours, and in the afternoon from 17:00 to 21:00 hours. It was detected that these periods are those that generate the greatest traffic of vehicles; even on weekends it has become a very congested artery, so the operation will be from Monday to Saturday,” added the corporation.

The Traffic Police officers will be deployed in eight strategic intersections:

Lázaro Cárdenas and 18 de Marzo
Lázaro Cárdenas and Fuelle
Lázaro Cárdenas and Gobernador Curiel
Lázaro Cárdenas and 8 de Julio
Lázaro Cárdenas and Colón
Lázaro Cárdenas and Av. del Mercado
Lázaro Cárdenas and Cruz del Sur
Lázaro Cárdenas and Av. Mariano Otero

Para dichas acciones la Policía Vial dispondrá de 45 elementos por turno. EL INFORMADOR / ARCHIVO
