Tourism and recreation are evolving and as a result, the travelers that Mexico receives in its hotels and attractions are becoming more demanding, said Alejandra Pueblita, general manager in Mexico of the multinational technology company Shiji.

If companies do not update or adopt new strategies, they may fall behind or be left out of the market, warned the representative of the company of Chinese origin.

“We compete globally with the major tourist destinations. So, that also means that we have a number of hotels and a very important hotel market. That is what makes us come to Mexico, that there is an important beach and city market with different characteristics.”

“The traveler is changing, they are much more demanding, the traveler is asking for different characteristics or has different requests, which are forcing the hotel to take giant steps in technology, which is answered with the platform to be ready in the future,” she said.

Travelers are demanding more unique experiences and activities, as well as comfort and order in their trips, in addition to greater respect for the environment and social responsibility on the part of companies, he added.

For this reason, the Shiji company announced its launch in Mexico with the aim of establishing its presence in the hotel sector, through technological solutions and efficiency in its processes.

There are more than 800 thousand hotels in the national territory of various categories and, according to UN Tourism, formerly the World Tourism Organization, Mexico occupies sixth place among the countries that receive the greatest volume of travelers, only behind France, Spain, the United States, Italy and Türkiye.
