Officers from the State Highway Police (PEC) and the Strategic Operations Force for Citizen Protection (FOEP) of the Jalisco Security Secretariat, thwarted an assault on a cargo truck on the Lagos de Moreno – San Luis Potosí highway, after the alleged attackers shot at the unit to make it stop.
The events occurred at kilometer 19+663 of the aforementioned highway, near the toll booth.
The police officers, who were conducting a surveillance patrol, received a report through the C5 Jalisco Urban Shield about a robbery in progress with gunshots to a tractor-trailer.
The driver of the unit reported that several men aboard a private vehicle began shooting to force him to stop, however, he did not slow down and called the 911 emergency number to ask for help.
Upon the arrival of state security elements, the alleged attackers fled the scene. The officers guarded the cargo truck and provided medical and psychological care to the driver.
Meat products worth one million pesos were transported in the unit’s cold storage room.
