In response to the many calls from citizens and the private sector to prevent the construction of a new gas station in Cabo San Lucas – in an area that could be at risk – local authorities have given a first response.
In a recent interview with the media, delegate Karina de la O said she agreed with the residents of the area on the risk that the construction of a station on Boulevard Constituyentes represents, due to the high flow of people and vehicles in the area.
“In order to have the gas station, it is not possible, there is a hospital very close, relatively close to the road, and it is the main one in the area. It is also attached to a school where we put two shifts at risk, this is impossible and we have to defend the position because there are priorities and it is to safeguard the integrity and health of the people.”
It should be remembered that very close to this point there is a hospital, a technical secondary school, the Red Cross, a supermarket and it also concentrates a large percentage of mobility, as it is located in the center of the delegation and is an access route to other colonies. According to the current Urban Development Plan, this should not be allowed.
The residents demand the complete closure of this project and not a suspension, to prevent the company promoting the gas station from resuming the project in the future.
