Oaxaca will host another edition of the Adventure Travel Network (ATMEX) in March of this year, a key meeting to strengthen the adventure and nature tourism industry in Latin America.

With this, added to the “Oaxaca Orgullo Natural” campaign, the state wants to show the thousands of tourists who visit the state that there is a wealth that not only includes its beaches, as it has protected natural areas and archaeological sites that can also be visited.

“We want to diversify the offer, with unparalleled experiences, always accompanied by pristine spaces that we have in the protected areas and how to be co-responsible for the arrival of tourists or visitors who come to these spaces,” said Saymi Adriana Pineda Velasco, Secretary of Tourism of the government of Oaxaca.

The XIV Edition of the Adventure Travel Network 2025 will take place from March 11 to 14, at the Cultural and Convention Center of Oaxaca.
Regarding this, the official said that “it is a marketing platform for tourism products and services with plenary conferences, workshops and one-on-one business meetings with competitors and specialized media, which will give us the opportunity to experience the adventure and nature product offered by our country and the host destination that is Oaxaca and in this way be able to connect with industry professionals from Mexico and the world.”

Among the activities that will be carried out in parallel to what will happen in the capital, in Huatulco there will be a “fam trip”, which is a courtesy trip so that tour operators or travel agencies can experience a tourist destination first hand.

“They will take the tour on a boat, they will go hiking, they will go on four-wheelers and be able to live all the experiences that are had in this important event,” she highlighted.

One of the state’s great attractions is the Huatulco National Park, made up of nine bays with low jungle vegetation, portions of mangroves, a temporary wetland and beautiful beaches.

Among the activities that can be done in addition to visiting the beaches, she highlighted the Lagunas de Chacahua National Park, in the municipality of Villa de Tututepec.

The Secretary of Tourism stated that Oaxaca is experiencing sustained growth in the flow of tourists and “it is essential to diversify the tourist offer to avoid this saturation on the beaches.”

“We have 15 protected areas, let’s be responsible when being able to visit a protected area, there are rules and there is a public use program. In the case of the Huatulco National Park, to give you some information, we have more than 5,000 hectares of marine area and more than 6,000 of land area, we have four trails where different activities take place,” she explained.

To further encourage tourists to visit the state, 2.12 billion pesos will be allocated for the modernization of the Oaxaca airport, which is expected to be completed in 2028.

This is expected to double the number of visitors and have a “strong economic impact.”
