The Federal Roads and Bridges Department of Revenue and Related Services (Capufe) announced closures to traffic on the Mexico – Querétaro highway and the Chichimequillas Northeast Bypass for February 15 and 17.

This is due to the transfer of reactors with excess dimensions, whose final destination will be the Tula Refinery, in Hidalgo.

“During the advance of the reactors, a low speed will be maintained. These tasks will cause the closure of traffic, for the removal of structures or signs that affect their passage,” it said.

Through a statement, Capufe indicated that both routes will be in the direction of Mexico City (CDMX) and will be carried out under the following schedule:

  • Saturday, February 15: it will start at 10:00 p.m. on the Northeast Bypass “Chichimequillas”, from kilometer 37 to 0. It will end at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 16.
  • Monday, February 17: it will start at 10:00 p.m. on the Mexico – Querétaro highway, from kilometer 178 to 133. It will end at 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18.

What are the alternate routes?

For the above, Caminos y Puentes Federales recommended that drivers plan their travel times or take alternate routes, such as State Highway 31 for small vehicles.

In addition, it called on drivers to respect road signs, as well as the instructions of security personnel.

“For any eventuality, we put at your disposal the helpline number 074 and the account of X @CAPUFE,” the document said.

This is not the first time that traffic closures have been made on the Mexico – Querétaro highway, due to the transfer of reactors.

On Monday, January 27, starting at 10:00 p.m., an intermittent closure of the road was made.

On that occasion, the affected section was from kilometer 145 to 132 in the direction of Mexico City, and the maneuvers extended until 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28.

Later, a new road closure was reported. This time it was during the days of January 28, 29 and 30 between kilometers 107 and 132.

The interruption was from approximately 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., in the direction of CDMX.
