In a major initiative to address infrastructure damage caused by heavy machinery used in the construction of the Mayan Train and Tulum Airport, Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama announced that more than 630 kilometers of roads will undergo repair.

The repairs, valued at 75.8 million pesos, are being carried out by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT). The roadworks will cover various sections along the highway network between Chetumal and Cancun, including Highway 307 from Reforma Agraria to Cancún, Highway 184, Highway 186, and Highway 295.

Highway 295 connects Mérida with Felipe Carrillo Puerto, while Highway 294 connects Valladolid with Felipe Carrillo Puerto. Furthermore, the notorious sinkhole on the Cancun-Playa del Carmen highway will be addressed as part of this program at an additional investment of 40.2 million pesos.

According to Governor Lezama, road repairs will vary depending on each area’s specific needs – some sections require pothole filling while others need resurfacing. To keep residents informed about the progress of the works, updates will be posted on social media platforms.

SICT’s comprehensive program includes drain cleaning and road leveling actions, reflecting the state government’s commitment to efficient and high-quality work. Residents are asked for patience and understanding as these essential repairs take place across the state.
