A woman who pretended to be a veterinarian was arrested and then released in Torreón, Coahuila, after actions taken by the Animal Defense Office of La Laguna. The detained person is accused of the death of several dogs, having an office in unsanitary conditions and even having stored up to four bodies of some animals.
Through Facebook, the Animal Defense Office of La Laguna announced that the arrest of this woman, identified as Silvia ‘N’ (33 years old), was achieved. She did not have a professional license to be a veterinarian, but was a human surgeon. Therefore, the staff in charge of said organization contacted the authorities.
The woman had bags with the bodies of dogs inside her clandestine veterinary clinic and unsanitary conditions of the pseudo establishment,” wrote the Animalist Ombudsman of La Laguna on Facebook.
Among the pets that were possibly victims of this woman are ‘Bombón’ and ‘Tokisha’, according to the Animalist Ombudsman of La Laguna, “I will go to the last consequences until I get that woman to pay for all the damage she caused,” said the responsible staff of the organization.
This Sunday, the head of the animalist organization added that one of the victims is Viridiana ‘N’, who took her dog ‘Bombón’ to the veterinary clinic and was killed. Likewise, she said that the woman accused of this case was released, because there is no formal complaint against her.
During a Facebook Live broadcast, the head of the organization said that the accused admitted that she did not have the professional license to work as a veterinarian. The same in the case of her father, who supposedly also claims to be a professional
Although the woman in question was already released by the authorities, the ‘Águila Real’ veterinary clinic was closed by the Inspection and Verification Department of Torreón, who placed seals of closure on the premises. An unofficial version indicates that this person fled to the United States.
On social media, Silvia ‘N’ is also accused of the death of a dog, whom she had at her veterinary clinic and apparently never fed, “my dog only stayed with me for two more days and then died in my arms,” said one of the victims on Facebook.
The penalties for animal abuse in Coahuila range from two to six years in prison, in addition to 300 to 1,000 days of fines, especially for those who commit acts of cruelty or unjustified evil against animals.
