The National Guard has intensified inspections at international bridges for citizens crossing into the United States as part of the “Northern Border” program. These efforts aim to prevent the passage of prohibited substances and curb human trafficking through international crossings.
On Friday, inspections of motorists heading to the United States continued, causing frustration among some drivers due to significant delays and long lines of cars. Despite the inconvenience, these strategies will be implemented across various international crossings, including the streets of Matamoros, where a segment of the community has accepted them.
The inspections involve supervising vehicles crossing into the United States to identify prohibited substances and prevent human trafficking. These measures are consistently applied at border ports to ensure security.
In addition to the border inspections, the National Guard is conducting patrols in the city and along the banks of the Rio Bravo as part of the broader security strategies in Matamoros and other border cities.
These enhanced security measures aim to protect the integrity of the border and ensure safe and legal crossings between Mexico and the United States.
