Blockades on Mexico-Pachuca and Querétaro highways cause chaos; transporters demand justice for the rape of girls in Zimapán

Transporters blocked seven of the main roads that connect the State of Mexico with the capital of the country on Wednesday, some protesting the case of an alleged rape of minors in the municipality of Zimapán, in Hidalgo.

The blockade on the Mexico-Pachuca highway began around 5:00 in the morning by cargo trucks, which has caused intense traffic and left thousands of people stranded.

According to various banners placed on the trucks, the transporters point to William “N” as a rapist of girls in the municipality of Zimapán, in Hidalgo, and demand that he be imprisoned for these acts.

According to the C5 of the State of Mexico, the roads closed to traffic this Wednesday are:

Mexico-Pachuca Highway
Federal Highway Lechería – Texcoco
Avenida Central at the height of the Mexibús, Ciudad Azteca
Rio de los Remedios corner of Avenida Central
Mexico-Querétaro Highway, near the Tepotzotlán toll booth
Mexico-Puebla Highway, San Marcos Huixtoco toll booth.
Tollocan and Tecnológico Avenues, San Jerónimo Chicahualco neighborhood, in Metepec
Caminos y Puentes Federales de Ingresos y Servicios Conexos (Capufe) reported a partial closure due to the presence of protesters on the Mexico-Puebla highway, at the height of the San Marcos Huixtoco toll booth and on the Mexico-Querétaro highway; previously both roads had been completely blocked.

As a result of the blockade, the Directorate of the Mass Transportation and Cable Car System of the State of Mexico announced the suspension of all service on Mexibús Line 1; the suspension of the La Raza – Central de Abastos stations on Mexibús Line 4 and a delay in service on Mexibús Line 2.
