Under the principles of inclusion, interculturality, cultural diversity and justice, the registration stage for delegations of dancers from the eight regions of the state of Oaxaca, interested in participating in the Guelaguetza 2025, which will be held on Monday, July 21 and 28, has begun.

According to the call from the Secretariat of Cultures and Arts of Oaxaca (Seculta), applicants to be part of this festival may register from today until March 17.

Once registered, the artistic directors will attend an information meeting on Friday, March 21 at the Juárez Theater in the capital city, and later, the tour of the intercultural counselors, experts in the field in charge of evaluating the folkloric delegations, will begin.

The visit to the registered communities will take place over four weekends between March and April, so that the results will be offered on May 5.

In this way, the Seculta seeks to fulfill the tradition of the Guelaguetza, which in Zapotec means offering or present, where the participating delegations will share with the attendees their music and dances, in addition to the characteristic products of their communities, including fruit, sweets, tortillas, bread, tamales, coffee, mezcal, liquor, tepache and others.

ABOUT THE CALL
The general bases of the call published by the Seculta are:

  1. From the date of publication of this call, the municipal authorities may register with the Secretariat of Cultures and Arts the delegations made up of people from and residing in their municipalities, in accordance with the second provision of this section.
  2. This call will be governed by the principles of inclusion, interculturality, cultural diversity, truthfulness, authenticity and justice, to give priority to all original dance and musical expressions, considering those that have not been selected in previous broadcasts.
  3. The communities, historically owners of their cultural heritage, have safeguarded their thoughts, rituals and traditions for centuries. Therefore, in the representation of a delegation, the rituals, because they have a sacred and ceremonial value for the communities, will have priority, as a recognition of their community identity.
  4. Each municipality of the eight regions of the state of Oaxaca may register only one delegation.
  5. The municipal authority responsible for the delegation must observe at all times the measures dictated by the State Coordination of Civil Protection and Comprehensive Risk Management and by the Secretariat of Health and Health Services of Oaxaca.
