This action, in which elements of the Navy (Semar) participated, was carried out within the Northern Border Operation, agreed upon between the Governments of Mexico and the United States.
“In Matamoros (Tamaulipas), an improvised explosive device, 1,126 live cartridges, were seized inside a vehicle with homemade armor,” was indicated in the report of the most relevant actions of February 18.
It was highlighted that since the implementation of the Northern Border Operation, 583 people have been arrested and 528 firearms, 61,982 cartridges of various calibers, and two 273 magazines have been seized.
Also seized were 894.59 kilograms (kg) of marijuana, 452.91 kg of cocaine, 16,072.99 kg of methamphetamine, 4.24 kg of heroin, 54.78 kg of fentanyl, 438 vehicles and 64 properties.
“The actions are carried out in strict compliance with the rule of law and with full respect for human rights,” explained the federal Security Cabinet.
