The Los Cabos Highway Bypass, Highway 1D, remains the only toll road in the entire state of Baja California Sur, connecting with the Transpeninsular Highway or Federal Highway

Opened in 2015, this section significantly reduced the travel time between San José and San Lucas, as well as from the municipality’s airport to the two previous destinations, benefiting thousands of motorists and residents.

Since its inauguration in 2015, the Highway Bypass has significantly reduced the travel time between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, going from 40 minutes to just 17, benefiting more than eight thousand vehicles and 138 thousand inhabitants.

The road has a length of 38.7 kilometers, a width of 12 meters, 3.5 meter lanes and 2.5 meter shoulders. In addition, it operates with four toll booths: Los Cabos Airport, San José del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas and El Mangle.

As of January 10, 2025, the new rates for the Bypass Highway came into effect, according to information from Caminos y Puentes Federales (CAPUFE). The costs vary depending on the type of vehicle.

For motorcycles, the rate on the Airport-San José del Cabo section is 24 pesos, while for cars it is 49 pesos. On the Airport-Cabo San Lucas section, the cost rises to 56 pesos for motorcycles and 113 pesos for cars.

Additional costs on the Bypass Highway
Two-axle buses must pay 104 pesos on the Airport-San José del Cabo section and 230 pesos to Cabo San Lucas. In the case of cargo trucks, the rates range between 103 and 387 pesos, depending on the number of axles.

The intermediate sections present differences in costs. The San José del Cabo-Cabo San Lucas route costs 89 pesos for cars and 176 pesos for two-axle buses. Likewise, the San José del Cabo-El Mangle section costs 95 pesos for cars and 194 pesos for buses.

Other relevant costs include the Airport-El Mangle section with a fare of 120 pesos for cars and 246 pesos for two-axle buses. Meanwhile, the Cabo Real-Cabo San Lucas route costs 66 pesos for cars and 137 pesos for buses.
