What do we know about the Alcántara Chama family who disappeared in the city of Veracruz?

The disappearance of four members of a family residing in the city of Veracruz was reported on social media. The family is made up of Jesús Alcántara García and Leticia Chama Palacios, the married couple; Ángeles Alcántara Chama, their daughter; and Imelda Palacios, maternal grandmother.

According to the Solecito de Veracruz Collective and acquaintances of the family, the missing persons were last seen on the night of February 18 in the Las Brisas subdivision, in the city of Veracruz, around 12:30 p.m.

So far, an official file has not been issued by the Veracruz State Search Commission to determine the whereabouts of the missing family. In addition, it is unknown whether an official complaint has already been filed with the State Attorney General’s Office.

The collectives and acquaintances of the Alcántara Chama family shared the phone numbers 2294628047 and 911 on social media in case they have information that helps locate the missing people.

The case of the Alcántara Chama family occurs just over a month after the disappearance of the couple formed by the teacher Alba Mónica Ramírez Becerro and her husband Bibiano Toledo Castro was reported, who were last seen on the afternoon of January 14, 2025 in the city of Veracruz.

How many people were reported missing in Veracruz?

Figures from the National Registry of Missing and Unlocated Persons indicate that during 2024, the disappearance of 586 people was recorded in Veracruz. In addition, more than 7,000 search reports remained active, which placed the state in fourth place with the highest number of missing people.

The Veracruz State Search Commission indicated that in January 114 people were reported missing in the state. Of these, 45 were men, 22 women and 47 minors. During the same month, 70 people were located: 20 men (all alive), 15 women (one of them dead) and 35 minors, while another 44 remained missing.
