In a first approach in the intention of strengthening ties of cooperation and new opportunities for economic, cultural and educational development between Torreón and Hungary, Mayor Román Alberto Cepeda González recently met with the ambassador of that European country in Mexico, Zoltán Németh.
The meeting laid the groundwork for later scheduling a series of meetings that would be oriented to establishing specific agreements.

Cepeda González announced that in principle it is hoped to be able to promote a meeting in which Hungarian businessmen interested in taking advantage of, in favor of the development of their businesses, the opportunities that they can find in this city and in the region as a whole participate.
In that sense, he considered that it could well be a good idea to establish specific agreements, after the commercial exchange between Hungary and Mexico has already grown a lot.
“They are now also looking at Torreón for its economy and the favorable conditions that are generated in La Laguna, and particularly in this municipality,” he said.
According to the Mayor, in terms of business, ties could be strengthened by taking advantage of the fact that the economic activities of Torreón and Hungary coincide and are very closely aligned. Thus, agreements could be established in areas such as information technology and in general in relation to the agri-food sector.
In general, they have been initially drawn to the growth of Torreón and the security conditions that exist in Coahuila, and it is that “evidently they want to come and put their eyes and their money where it is safer and generates greater certainty.”
The idea is to be able to hold a meeting with businessmen, either in Mexico City or in Torreón with such objectives, while seeking to follow up on the initial approach to try to establish an exchange in the cultural and educational aspect.
