A family conflict marked by intolerance and rejection culminated in a bloody tragedy in the municipality of General Cepeda, Coahuila.
José Alfredo “N”, 55, was arrested and placed at the disposal of a control judge at the Saltillo Men’s Prison, accused of being responsible for allegedly killing Víctor, 71, with a saber and mutilating his own 24-year-old daughter during the attack.
Dispute Over Age Difference and Saber Attack
The events occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, September 6. According to ministerial investigations, the altercation began when the victim confronted the accused to discuss the deep family differences that existed between them.
Investigations by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) revealed that the central motive for the crime was the attacker’s continued refusal to accept the romantic relationship, which was approaching its seventh anniversary, because of the 47-year age difference between the couple.
The relationship had been surrounded by constant disagreements and previous threats directed at the older man.
In the middle of the argument that Sunday, José Alfredo “N” lost control and used a sharp saber to inflict a deep wound to Víctor’s chest, damaging vital organs.
Upon realizing that the attack was fatal, María “N”, 24 and the attacker’s daughter, intervened to defend her partner, suffering the amputation of three fingers on her hand due to the weapon’s sharp edge.
Fatal Aftermath and Arrest
After carrying out the attack, the suspect attempted to flee, while relatives urgently transported the injured man to the local Health Center.
Due to the severity of the chest injury, doctors ordered his immediate transfer to the General Hospital of Saltillo. However, while traveling along Periférico Luis Echeverría Álvarez, near the State Attorney General’s Office, Víctor suffered cardiopulmonary arrest and died at 2:00 a.m. despite resuscitation efforts.
Officers from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) carried out the arrest warrant against the alleged killer and presented him before the judicial authorities, where prosecutors formally charged him with aggravated homicide with advantage and intentional bodily harm.
