Support for elderly women in Durango
During her visit, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the implementation of new social programs aimed at improving the quality of life of Durango residents. Among them is the “Women’s Well-being Pension,” aimed at women aged 60 to 64, who upon reaching 65 will automatically begin receiving the pension for senior citizens.
In addition, a universal scholarship program will be launched for public school students. Initially, in 2025, it will benefit high school students, and by 2026 it will be extended to primary and preschool levels. The goal is to ensure that all boys and girls have equal opportunities in their education, eliminating existing gaps.
Improvements in the health sector and personalized care
In the area of health, Sheinbaum presented the “Health House by House” strategy, which includes the hiring of specialized medical personnel to provide home care to senior citizens. Likewise, the creation of “Pharmacies of Well-Being” in the old Diconsa stores was announced, with the purpose of ensuring access to essential medicines at affordable prices in marginalized rural and urban communities.
Million-dollar investments to guarantee access to drinking water
One of the most significant commitments is the investment of more than 7.3 billion pesos in water infrastructure to ensure the supply of drinking water in Durango. Among the highlighted projects is the construction of the Tunal II dam, in addition, a water treatment plant will be built that will benefit more than 200,000 inhabitants of the state capital.
Inter-institutional collaboration for regional development
The state governor, Esteban Villegas, announced the incorporation of the state into the scholarship program for people with disabilities, reaffirming its commitment to the most vulnerable sectors of society.
The presence of federal and state officials, as well as representatives of civil society, at the various events held reflects the willingness to collaborate between the different levels of government and the community to promote the comprehensive development of Durango.
