The activities begin with the exhibition “Traditional Rarámuri Medicine”, which will be available all weekend from 12:00 to 18:00 hours.

This exhibition seeks to socialize the different aspects that make up traditional Rarámuri medicine, such as rituals, the use of herbs, their preparations and therapeutic techniques that are based on the observation of nature and the belief in the balance between body, mind and spirit.

The largest God’s Eye in the world

In addition to this exhibition, on Friday the “Largest God’s Eye in the World” will be held, a work full of color, tradition and Huichol art, which all Durango residents are invited to join in to do collectively.

The creation of an “Eye of God” is a sacred act for the Wixáricas, since it involves a weaving made with deep intention and concentration, in connection with the spirit and energy of the cosmos.

A universal celebration

February 22, International Mother Language Day, was proclaimed by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1999, and has been celebrated worldwide since 2000.

The activities will be free and aimed at all Durango residents who want to celebrate this date but also want to be part of the events held by the museum that houses permanent and temporary exhibitions of the various cultures that inhabit the state of Durango, as well as their festivals, traditions and customs.

Evento. Junto a la creación de este objeto protector de los wixáricas se llevarán a cabo otras actividades gratuitas, como una exposición de medicina tradicional Rarámuri en el Museo de las Culturas Populares.
