The highway that connects Oaxaca with the state of Puebla became the scene of a macabre discovery on the morning of March 2, as motorists reported the presence of several people executed inside a vehicle.
According to the complaints received on the 911 emergency line, the unit was abandoned on the side of the Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca highway, at kilometer 83, in the area corresponding to the municipality of San José Miahuatlán, Puebla.
In response to this alert, several agents from the National Guard’s Highway Division went to the site, who confirmed the presence of a private vehicle in apparent condition. Upon inspecting the scene, they noticed that there were several corpses inside, so they issued the corresponding notice to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
According to preliminary reports, forensic service workers noticed that the victims had gunshot wounds, as well as apparent signs of torture.
While the experts were gathering the first clues, elements of the GN and the National Army interrupted traffic in one of the highway lanes. Later, the bodies were recovered by personnel from the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) and taken to the municipal amphitheater of Tehuacán.
Hours after the crime was made known, the version was released that the bodies could correspond to a group of young people from Tlaxcala who were reported missing in recent days. However, because the authorities have not issued any statement on the matter, the connection between both events has not been able to be confirmed.
