Low Sales for Foreign Vendors at Olas Altas Carnival

The Olas Altas carnival this past Friday and Saturday has been disappointing for foreign vendors who traveled to the area hoping for profitable sales.

Luis, a vendor from the State of Mexico, arrived with other merchants expecting to sell their merchandise during the festivities. Unfortunately, the reality has been demoralizing for them.

On Saturday night, Luis stood by his stall displaying wrestler masks, illuminated queen crowns, and other festive items. He noted that the competition was tough but also observed that attendance at this year’s carnival was lower than in previous years. This decline may explain why his items were not in high demand. Luis mentioned that his earnings barely covered the floor fee of 550 pesos per night.

He remains hopeful that sales will improve during the parades on Sunday and Tuesday, allowing him to recoup his investment and cover the expenses of staying in the port.

After the Mazatlán carnival, Luis and his fellow merchants plan to travel to Tuxtepec in the State of Mexico for the Fireworks Fair, followed by the Veracruz carnival.
