The possibility is planned that coastal fishermen from San Carlos can participate in attracting tourists interested in sport fishing, which would benefit the town, with a greater economic spillover.
Scam to workers for jobs in Canada could be worth millions
Manuel Bustamante, is one of those affected who has spoken on behalf of his colleagues, who explained that they have already started with the formal complaints
Luis Núñez Noriega, head of the Commission for the Promotion of Tourism (Cofetur), indicated that this has been raised as a result of complaints that have been made due to sardine fishing boats that come too close to tourist areas; however, they are protected under the law.
Therefore, alternatives were sought so that coastal fishermen have another source of income by not being able to compete with large vessels, as well as generating more opportunities to attract tourism.
“The alternatives that we have been visualizing are that through training, with coastal fishermen there is potential to generate specialized sport fishing, with those who know very well all the nooks and crannies of the state, which are the coastal fishermen,” he said.
Also, another of the opportunities that can be generated is the sighting of marine species, said the public official, because there is specialized tourism that interests visitors, as is done in Baja California with whale watching.
“In Sonora it is done in some places, however, we want to do everything with a very complete methodology, to strengthen and generate new products from associating tour operators with this training for coastal fishermen,” he said.
Núñez Noriega concluded that they will also seek to generate exclusion parts for these purposes and that commercial fishing does not affect coastal fishermen and the work of tour operators attracting visitors.
