Around 5,000 people from communities in the municipalities of Mochitlán, Quechultenango, and Chilpancingo, in the central area of Guerrero, protested this afternoon in the capital, which forced the suspension of classes in several schools at the preschool, primary, secondary, high school, and higher levels, which also caused anxiety among the population, who could not get to school and work on time.

The transporters arrived in their vehicles and also on foot, leaving from the town of Petaquillas, located 10 kilometers south of the capital, heading to the government palace, marching along the four lanes of the Mexico to Acapulco Highway to demand an audience with the state government, arguing that they have petitions that have not been resolved after the passage of hurricanes Otis and John.

The protesters carried sticks, machetes and slingshots, and went with their hands and faces covered. Through loudspeakers, they warned that they will arrive at the government palace to demand an audience with Governor Evelyn Salgado to address issues contained in the petitions they have signed a year ago and that have to do with works for the communities.

It is worth mentioning that since Monday night, the following message was spread through social networks: “Breaking News: Los Ardillos (a criminal group that operates in the area) plan to turn the transportation service upside down, this Tuesday, March 4 in Chilpancingo!”.

And they assume themselves as transporters of the Towns of the Valley of Chilpancingo, as well as the municipalities of Mochitlán, and Quechultenango.

They also denounced that “they are being forced by the criminal group Los Ardillos, to cause chaos in the capital, so there would be no transportation in these municipalities and localities. They will block from 9 in the morning at the Marqués bus stop.”

The drivers insisted that “they are being threatened with having their vehicles taken away if they do not attend the mobilization, in which it was also demanded that the Mexican Army and the National Guard suspend patrols in the towns controlled by Los Ardillos, since these are the areas where the criminal group moves its product.”

They were finally attended to by state government officials headed by the undersecretary of government, Francisco Rodríguez Cisneros.
