President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo responded to Senator Félix Salgado Macedonio’s change of mind regarding his intentions to run for the governorship of Guerrero.

In her morning press conference on Monday, March 3, the federal president was questioned about the statements made by the Morena senator, in light of the approval of the reform against nepotism and against reelection, proposed by her.

In his arguments, Senator Félix Salgado Macedonio assured that, if he were to run for and win the governorship of Guerrero in 2027 to replace his daughter Evelyn Salgado, there would be no act of nepotism, because she would not appoint him or inherit the position, but he would obtain it with the support of the people, through the polls.

In response to this, Sheinbaum Pardo reaffirmed that Morena will not allow candidacies from relatives in 2027. It should be noted that the reform will come into force in 2030.

“15 days ago he also said that he was not going to be a candidate,” said the President.

  • But now he has come clean, he was mentioned.

“Well yes, but I stick with the statement from 15 days ago,” she said.

“Well, Morena already said it. The president of Morena said that if the Constitution leaves until 2030, in the case of Morena candidates, they will not be able to be relatives. So they would have to go for another party, as they say around here, but I don’t think they will do very well, right?” Sheinbaum responded.

Insisting that Morena would not support candidates who decide to disregard what the cherry party said and who seek to move to other parties, President Sheinbaum Pardo said that “it is not a personal ambition, that is why I say it, this is a fundamental issue, of listening to the people, people are very aware.”

Félix Salgado reveals intentions to compete for Guerrero
15 days ago, Salgado Macedonio assured that he would not compete in 2027 for the governorship of Guerrero, a position now held by his daughter Evelyn Salgado; however, a few days ago, when the reform against nepotism and reelection was approved, the cherry senator published on social networks the phrase “There is a bull”, with which he announced that he was a candidate for the federal position in 2021, but that it was withdrawn by the INE.

Yesterday, the senator said that, if he ran and won the race to govern Guerrero, it would not be nepotism because the people supported him.

Salgado Macedonio warned that Morena’s statutes cannot be above the Constitution, which guarantees his right to vote and be voted for.
