What was supposed to be a night of celebration and tradition at the Carnaval Pie del Cerro, in San Bartolo Tutotepec, Hidalgo, ended in fear and chaos after the main stage collapsed due to strong gusts of wind.
The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m., when the wind violently shook the main stage, which was built with an aluminum frame, lights and black canvas.

Videos shared on social media show the moment when the giant screen on the stage suddenly goes out and, seconds later, the structure gives way, causing a stampede of attendees trying to avoid being trapped under the rubble.
Despite the impact of the accident, the organizers issued a statement assuring that there were no serious injuries, although some people suffered bumps, scrapes and nervous breakdowns.
In addition, local authorities have inspected the fireworks display in the area, as there was a risk that it could also collapse due to adverse weather conditions.
