During the closing of the Tenosique Carnival in Tabasco, two men were shot and killed by armed assailants. One of the victims was dressed in traditional attire for the Pochó dance.
Preliminary reports indicate that the attack occurred on the morning of March 4 on Jazmín Street in the Colosio neighborhood. The victims were gunned down in the middle of the street, causing panic among attendees. Local authorities quickly arrived to cordon off the area and began their investigation.
Authorities confirmed that one of the victims was wearing the typical costume of the cojóes, the main character of the Pochó dance, which includes a skirt made of chestnut leaves, a sack on the torso, and a rope tied around the waist. The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has opened an investigation into homicides.
Shooting Disrupts La Arrolladora Show
The closing performance of the Tenosique Carnival by La Arrolladora Banda El Limón was interrupted by a series of explosions in the air. The disturbance caused a temporary halt to the musical show. Hours later, the City Council announced that the explosions were caused by a soldier.
