The Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco collective, which searches for missing persons, reported the discovery of three clandestine ovens on a property in La Estanzuela, in the municipality of Teuchitlán, Jalisco.
According to its members, who reported on the search and seizure of the “Izaguirre” ranch, they indicated that it was used by organized crime to incinerate bodies, which would make it an extermination site.
The members showed the findings, from dental pieces, remains of bones and others, located among the ashes.
They also reported the presence of different objects among which they found 400 pairs of shoes, clothing and personal items, all of which would indicate that at least 200 people could have been victims at that site; on the contrary, they also located 96 shells of different calibers, three magazines for firearms and some security handcuffs.
An altar with images of Santa Muerte, surrounded by candles, was also located on the ranch.
In January of this year, the site was searched and it was discovered that it was used as a training camp, and at that time the authorities detained 38 people along with weapons; however, it was later reported that 36 of them were victims of forced recruitment.
In September 2024, they reported a confrontation at the site, between officers and criminals, which led to the arrest of 10 generators of violence and three victims deprived of liberty.
Given these findings, the Attorney General of the State of Jalisco, Salvador González de los Santos, justified that during the past seizures these clandestine ovens were not detected, due to the vastness of the land.
“A search was carried out in certain parts of the ranch, some remains were found, but not everything could be processed because there are quite a few hectares,” he stated to the media.
The new discovery at the site, the prosecutor admitted, was achieved from the search by groups, who informed the authorities to begin the processing of the site, which has an area of approximately 50 by 100 meters.
The remains found during this seizure were hidden in the ground, so they could not be detected in the previous investigations, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, but after the rescue, investigations and forensic analysis will begin to, if possible, determine their identity.
In addition, the Prosecutor’s Office said that it started an investigation file to pursue the crimes, arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
