The Durango-Mazatlán superhighway was restored to traffic after an accident occurred, where a trailer loaded with minerals overturned shortly before reaching the Garabitos toll booth.
The accident generated heavy traffic, with long lines of cargo trucks, buses and private cars. According to the first reports, the driver of said unit allegedly lost control in an area of sharp curves, which caused it to overturn and the dispersion of its load on the asphalt.
Elements of the National Guard (GN), as well as Federal Roads and Bridges of Revenue and Related Services (CAPUFE), arrived at the site to coordinate security efforts and direct traffic in the areas near the accident. Likewise, emergency personnel and cranes are working on removing the heavy unit and the debris scattered on the road. Therefore, motorists were advised to remain calm and wait.
On the other hand, the driver’s health status has not been reported so far, nor whether there were more people affected in the incident. It is expected that in the next few hours the authorities will provide additional information on the cause of the accident.
