Women in Real Estate: The New Face of the Real Estate Sector

289

The real estate market in Mexico is undergoing a significant change with the increasing participation of women in the industry. Although it has historically been a male-dominated sector, more and more women are taking on key roles in areas such as development, urban planning and real estate marketing, bringing a more sustainable and inclusive vision.

According to data from the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE), in the third quarter of 2024, 23.4% of workers in the Real Estate Services and Rental of Movable and Intangible Assets sector were women. Although the figure remains low, the trend points to constant growth, driven by greater opportunities for education and training.

One of the main factors that has allowed the entry of more women into the sector is education. At low levels of schooling, their participation is almost zero, but in those with more than 13 years of study, the difference between men and women is considerably reduced. This shows that professional training remains a fundamental tool to open doors in the real estate industry.

Leadership with social impact

Companies such as Levy Holding have recognized the value of integrating more women into strategic positions, not only from an equity perspective, but because their vision brings a positive impact on the development of the sector. Alejandra Huerta, the company’s Commercial Director, highlights the importance of this inclusion:

“The real estate sector needs more women in leadership. Their focus on planning, social sensitivity and sustainability is generating a real change in the industry and in communities.”

Women in real estate are driving a new leadership style that prioritizes user experience, urban well-being and sustainable development, factors that are key today in the planning of modern cities.
