Seven brands and the lemon product system will represent Michoacán at one of the world’s largest agri-food fairs: Foodex, which will be held in Japan from March 11 to 14, according to the Ministry of Economic Development (Sedeco).
Entrepreneurs with the capacity to produce lemon, banana flour, frozen fruit, mezcal, guava pulp, guacamole, vegetable oil, jam, and dried cranberries will have the opportunity to do business in the Asian country with the goal of initiating ties so that these products can be permanently exported.
Foodex, Asia’s leading agri-food fair, brings together nearly 3,000 companies from 70 countries, presenting a variety of products, from fresh foods (agriculture, fishing) to processed foods (frozen, organic, vegetables), beverages, condiments, sweets, meats, and Japanese specialties. There are also spaces dedicated to food safety and consulting.
Among the state attendees were Zayurit de la Cruz, representative of the Xokotl brand, Ulises Bedolla of the Dulce Momento brand, Josué Vera of the Naandi brand, Boris Novosel of BR Naturals, María Eugenia of the LuluBlue brand, and Bernardo Bravo of the Apatzingán Citrus Growers Association.
In addition to having representation from Sedeco (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Livestock and Livestock) to monitor and support business negotiations, its head, Claudio Méndez Fernández, reiterated his commitment to promoting the export of Michoacán products worldwide, especially those with designations of origin, geographical indications, or collective trademarks.
At the same time, the state agency is preparing to host the World Assembly of the Organization for an International Geographical Indications Network (oriGin), to be held in 2025, led by Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla.
