This morning, around 11:00 a.m., the closure of traffic in both directions of the Durango-Mazatlán highway was reported through the X account of Caminos y Puentes Federales (Capufe).

According to Capufe, the closure was at kilometer 182, near the El Sinaloense tunnel, and was due to “an incident,” without providing details about the incident.

At 12:20 p.m., Capufe reported the restoration of vehicular traffic in both directions.

What happened on the Durango-Mazatlán highway?

Although Capufe did not provide further details about the highway closure, this morning Sinaloa media reported the discovery of four bodies inside one of the tunnels on the highway, just between kilometer 181 and 182 of the highway.

According to Sinaloa media outlets such as Debate, at kilometer 181 in the municipality of Concordia, travelers passing through the area reported the discovery of four bodies bearing signs of violence.

These were three shirtless men and another man who was wrapped in a blanket. All showed signs of torture and gunshot wounds. However, no shell casings of any caliber were found at the scene.

While it was initially reported that traffic on the highway had not been interrupted, the information released by Capufe coincides with the incident this morning, suggesting that it was closed so authorities could carry out the necessary investigation.
