More than one billion pesos in revenue and one million visitors are expected for Holy Week in Coahuila, according to the State Tourism Secretariat, which would be just five percent more than last year, said its head, Cristina Amezcua González.

“I think it will be higher than last year; I think it was one billion pesos. So we expect more than one million visitors for Holy Week, and we are ready to welcome them all.”

She indicated that as of this date, hotel occupancy in the magical towns is already 100 percent booked, which she attributed to the state’s safety, which is driving people to decide to visit.

“We expect a little more, also due to the security issue and the publicity that has been provided through the various events held by the governor and the Tourism Secretariat. We are always promoting the magical towns, talking about our wines, and our paleontology.”

Which municipalities have the most visitors?

He said the estimated growth rate for this year compared to last year is between 5 and 10 percent.

“It’s different because last year we had the eclipse, which extended Holy Week a little longer, because many people went until Monday and Tuesday in places like Torreón and Cuatrociénegas, and now it will happen more organically,” he explained.
In addition to the magical towns, he said there is a large influx in the municipalities of Torreón, Saltillo, and Piedras Negras, and visitors are expected from the state itself, as well as from other states in the country and even from other countries.

He stated that the “Surprise Yourself” campaign and its dissemination on social media will continue.
