Municipal police in Ensenada, Baja California, are reportedly involved in the internal struggle between the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), according to an investigation by Tijuana’s Zeta Weekly.
According to reports, on the night of March 6, municipal police arrested six men who were ranch workers and were aboard a truck allegedly carrying weapons and drugs.
The Weekly reported that five other workers, from Sinaloa and Tijuana, between the ages of 18 and 22, were found a few meters inside the building located in El Porvenir.
Three of the workers, identified as Rigoberto Rivera Rangel, Rubén Efren Ray Ordaz, and Ángel “N,” are originally from Sinaloa. The other two, Josué Fernando Tiznado Vidaca and Juan Edgar Mayorga Pérez, are from Tijuana, Baja California. All five are missing.
Investigations by ministerial authorities revealed by the media outlet indicate evidence that at least 10 Ensenada municipal police patrols entered the ranch to vandalize the rooms.
Once the state prosecutor’s office secured the 10-hectare property called Alemath, they found dental remains, hair, and blood.
According to Zeta Tijuana, the disappearance of these individuals is reportedly related to the battle for territory between the Sinaloa Cartel and the CJNG in the area from El Manadero to Valles de Guadalupe, which encompasses three boroughs: El Porvenir, San Antonio de las Minas, and Francisco Zarco.
Leopoldo Lizarra Ochoa, alias El Polo and/or El Pantera, operates in this area. According to the weekly newspaper, he is seeking to reach the municipality of Tecate, where Edgar Vazquez Flores, alias El Speed, an operator of a cell of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), operates.
El Speed, who had already been arrested in 2014 for kidnappings, executions, and drug trafficking, is under the command of Javier Adrián Beltrán Cabrera, alias El Pedrito, the leader of the cell and influential in the Valle de Guadalupe.
Furthermore, El Speed was arrested by agents of the now-defunct State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE) in 2014 for his probable connection, according to official information; 11 years later, he reappears with operations in Tecate.
For these events, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has issued 16 arrest warrants against members of the Municipal Public Security Directorate (DSPM) for their alleged involvement in the crime of forced disappearance.
Of the total warrants issued by authorities, only eleven agents are being held at the Social Reintegration Center (CERESO); the rest are fugitives from justice, revealed the Tijuana Weekly.
