Fernanda Ramos Velasco, Undersecretary of Tourism Promotion for Durango Tourism, said that during their visits to both Mazatlán and Zacatecas, they have seen good road security.

She said she is aware that the State Public Security Secretariat is carrying out a joint operation with other highway authorities, which is why increased security is already perceived, particularly on the Durango-Mazatlán Highway.

Therefore, she commented that this Easter, higher occupancy rates may be achieved in the cabins, which have suffered from the low tourist presence last year.

But also, thanks to this security, hotel occupancy in the aforementioned states is expected to reach levels of at least 60 percent during Holy Week and Easter.

“The truth is, we miss the tourism from Sinaloa, which was the one that visited us the most. We miss the tourism from other states like Zacatecas, but the ones that visited us the most were from Sinaloa, and now that we’re coming more frequently, we see that the perception of the highway and safety has improved, and we expect more visitors from there to here and vice versa,” he commented.

On the other hand, he said that three major congresses and conventions are expected during the month of April, the first of which will be this weekend, although it is a regional event organized by Canacintra.

However, there will be a dentistry congress on April 14th and 16th, and another one with a factory and business meeting on the 29th and 30th, which will also attract visitors from other states.
