The Governor of Durango, Esteban Villegas, held a meeting with Spanish business leaders this Tuesday at the headquarters of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), with the goal of attracting foreign direct investment to his state.
The meeting was part of a working tour of Europe that also included a visit to Hanover, Germany.
During the event titled “Opportunities in Durango, a Strategic Destination for Investment in Mexico,” Villegas presented his state’s economic potential and highlighted key sectors that offer ample opportunities for international collaboration.
“Durango has a privileged location, young talent, and a competitive business environment,” he told leaders of the Spanish business sector.
Durango as a benchmark for filmmaking
One of the central points of his presentation was the boost Durango is giving to the film industry, which has grown in recent years thanks to its landscapes and facilities for audiovisual productions. Furthermore, the governor highlighted the arrival of a new technology industry as another pillar of regional economic development.
In this context, Villegas announced that, with the support of Spanish companies, a 300-megabyte data center is planned for Durango, which will be added to another 200-megabyte data center that will be built in collaboration with a Mexican firm. This infrastructure, he said, will be key to consolidating the state as a hub for digital innovation.
The president’s tour of Europe aims to strengthen economic and institutional ties with strategic countries. After his visit to Germany, where he participated in business activities in Hanover, the stop in Madrid seeks to open new doors for Durango in the European market.
