As part of “Operation Saber Juchitán,” members of the Navy (Semar), in coordination with the three branches of government, arrested José Benito González Espinoza, alias Tláloc, the alleged leader of the “Tláloc” criminal cell, which operates in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region of Oaxaca.
Based on field and office work, naval personnel identified that this criminal group uses legitimate commercial activities as a front to conceal illicit operations, including illegal hydrocarbon trafficking.
Semar also detected that the companies used include a gravel pit, hotels, and warehouses, and that the profits obtained are used to finance extortion and extortion activities through armed cells that maintain territorial control through threats and targeted violence.
Following his arrest, José Benito González Espinoza was placed at the disposal of ministerial authorities to determine his legal status, according to sources from the federal security cabinet.
