An unusual incident was captured on security cameras in the city of Puebla: a man, who entered a home to rob a house, decided to take a break to pour himself some water and have breakfast in the kitchen. The incident occurred on April 9 and, after being spread on social media, sparked outrage among the public.
The man, approximately 30 years old, entered the residence through the front door carrying a pickaxe, a tool that has led to speculation he might be doing gardening work. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and a black cap. Once inside, he walked around the living room and stopped to watch television before noticing a surveillance camera on the ceiling. Although he tried to hide and manipulate the lens, he was unable to avoid being recorded.
The footage shows how, after filling several yellow bags with valuables, the man went to the kitchen and calmly poured himself a glass of water. He even took the time to eat breakfast as if he were in his own home, which social media users described as an act of “total cynicism.”
“He still has time for breakfast, the cynic!” expressed one user on X, while other internet users commented that these types of incidents demonstrate the level of impunity experienced in some areas of the country. The video, which quickly went viral, led many to dub him “the most brazen thief in Puebla.”
The owners of the affected home have already filed a formal complaint with the authorities and requested support from the community to identify the perpetrator. So far, no one has been found.
